Commons car park access to be improved
Steps are being taken by the Vale Commons Council to improve access and use of one of its main car parks near Les Amarreurs and Ladies’ Bay.
The States’ Traffic and Highways Services has agreed that the Lucksall car park alongside Les Amarreurs Road will become controlled, meaning it will include an area for disc parking for up to 10 hours’ duration and two accessible blue badge bays for disabled drivers.
VCC president Rosemary Henry said the council was delighted that Traffic had agreed to the request because there had been persistent problems with “nuisance parking” and abandoned vehicles, which restricted access for users of the Common.
Under the arrangement with the States, the Council will retain an area for dedicated, unlimited parking of up to five vehicles by nearby residents and up to seven unlimited spaces for L’Ancresse Motors to use.
Work to improve the car park surface, erect the disc parking signs and install the disabled spaces is expected to start later this year and is being funded by the Council.
- A further announcement will be made to let people know when works are to start and to enable existing users to move vehicles to provide contractors access to the area.
